Talk:P/Virt Machine

It strikes me as unlikely that, if the Santa_Cruz_Event occurred two years ago (in B.C.Y. 2), two companies would be manufacturing machines under an agreed set of limiting restrictions. I would expect a longer run-up. Legally speaking, two years from discovery also seems awfully fast for there to be legislation on the books (local, state, federal?), particularly given that it's a little-enforced misdemeanor. If there was the fearmongering and political will necessary to drive federal legislation through, I'd expect higher penalties and more emphasis on investigation and enforcement.

I agree with this. In the present day setting (C.Y. 1?) the P/Virse should be just entering the public consciousness - hashing out evolutions in public sentiment/legislation/enforcement could be left to the writers. Presumably P/Virts are a small percent of the population, so it's hard to see two companies trying to corner the market so quickly. One P/Machine company makes more sense, operating without regulation, and pursuing its own possibly nefarious purposes.Logicpunk 09:02, 18 December 2007 (PST)
